Simone Elkeles' Perfect chemistry

From what I alredy knew about this book I was excpecting it to be super cheesy.  But it escaped, uncheesed.  Alex Fuentes is the average gang guy from all the movies.  He is in an unfortunate situation, is smart, good looking and looks out for his family blah blah blah.  And Brittany is the cheerleading blonde.  She has the perfect life on the outside but on the inside she is a meltdown waiting to happen (Hmm...where have I seen that before?) but her parents' rocky relationship isn't the only missplaced hair on her perfect coiffure.  She also has a mentally disabled sister, Shelly.  So at least you know there is some character depth.  And a bonus, every chapter has a different point of view, it goes back and forth from Brittany to Alex.

Once these two cross pathes their lives change forever.  Alex gets Brittany to stand up to her parents and Britany, gets Alex to reevaluate his situation in the gang.  Alex is a smart guy who could really do a lot with his life but he is tied down to where he is by his gang.  But everything in the book changes once they fall in love.  Their love is actually kind of sincere, they have...passion!  And you can't help but love Alex.  Anyways, this book isn't too bad.  I liked it.  It was a cute romance with a little twist at the end and a lot of comedic relief.  The second book comes out next year if I am not mistaken.  Although the plot was cliche, the writing was not.  Go on and read the book, it has a moody seal of approovement!

*Sigh, although the book was not cheesy, the trailer is!  Behold!  (by the way the book is not that...cheesy/cliche.  Trust me)

Catching Fire! The sequel to the Hunger games.

Catching fire is the sequel to Suzanne Collin's amazing book the Hunger games.  When I first reviewed the Hunger games I gushed about how amazing it was.  Courtesy of Scholastic I got to review Cathcing fire.  And let me tell you, I was not disapponted!

Normally, the sequel to a good book results in a bad sequel but that would be the contrary in this story!  Katniss has survived the Huner Games and has managed to keep Peeta alive at the same time.  But the Capitol is not happy with that.  They see "the desperate act of star-crossed lovers" as an act of defiance and they want justice.  On top of all that it seems like an uprising is starting, triggered by Katniss.  Oh and let's not forget all the boy drama!  Peeta has found out Katniss and Haymitch's little arrangement while they were in the Hunger games and has broken his heart and she must face Gale.  What has Katniss gotten herself into?

But the show must go on and everyone must believe that Katniss and Peeta are as in love as always were, even more.  And president Snow is counting on that, or else...

Do I even have to tell you how great this book was?  It has everything I look for in a book drama, action, romance and even some comedic relief.  Oh man!  I have to say I was kind of  scared that this book wouldn't  be able to measure up to the first one but boy was I wrong.  Even though the setting has changed the characters are still the same, which invites a feeling of relief to engulfe you (if you get that).  The character developpement in the book has pregreessed, in the Hunger Games we didn't get to spend much time with characters like Gale, but the second book comes back with a vengeance.  You can't help but love all the guys in the story, even Haymitch.
I am unconditionnally and irrevocably in love with...This book ;D

So if you haven't read book one, get to it!  It is time to start Catching fire!

Kiss of life a generation dead novel by Daniel Waters

So courtesy of Daniel Waters and publicist I was able to review Kiss of like and I have to say I liked it.  A lot.  To begin, the plot is unique, or at least it seems like it is since this is a break from vampires.  Instead we get to socialize with zombies!  So basically in the book, we join Phoebe Kendall who had to suffer the loss of human, Adam, who took a bullet for her that was either meant for her or Tommy Williams.  Which caused Adam to become undead (are you following?).  And now, she has to cope with everything that has occurred since, Pete (the guy who "killed" Adam) getting off easy at the trial.  Adam's rehabilitation and Tommy ( so much to be said with that one name) Pheobe's sort of boyfriend.  

 

The character development was very good in this book, which is hard to say for other books.  You could really feel for Phoebe, who had to choose between Adam and Tommy (I can't even choose!).  The plot was very easy to follow but I do have to say the only problem in this book was just that in the mid-section the pace of the story slowed down and not much happened causing it to be a bit (just a bit!) boring.  There was just a bit to much dialogue which didn't cause much to happen.  Although, towards the end, the book started to pick up (which diappointed me because that meant I'd have to wait for the next book).  There was a lot of foreshadowing which lead me to my suspicions.  But under all the teen angst and drama the story actually has a pretty deep meaning, which I'll let you figure out for yourself once you read it.  You better read this book.  It's light, and I finished it yesterday and I'm STILL thinking about it.  That is the sign of a good book my friend!  

The dead bring all the excitement to this story.  Being dead doesn't mean your not alive in this book!

Go on and read this book!  I promise you it won't bore you to death!

What to excpect for the Wicked month of october!

Helloes to all witches and goblins!  So September has been quite a progressive month for the moody blog, no complaints.  I'm under a lot of pressure right now though, it hasn't even been a month that school has started o and I'm ready to quit.  30 minutes, that is how long I must talk about stuff noooobody cares about in front of my English class. And  a bunch of tests I am excpecting to fail.  Guess you know why I'm moody (maybe my motto should be, It's not just PMS, whadya think about that?)  But enough about me, more about the blog!

The Vampire diares show

INHALE!  EXHALE!  INHALE!  EXHALE...

Okay, guys in case you missed it (you probably didn't) The Vampire Diaries show premiered on Thursday September 10th and  my watch  says that was yesterday.  I think it was actually really good and Hollywood didn't really screw up the story that's based on the book, like some movies (...Twilight...) or TV shows in this case.  So the opening to the show is basically a couple being attacked by a mysterious figure which we later find out is Damon (rawr).  So then  we meet Elena, played by Canadian (WOOT) actress Nina Dobrev.  Her parents died four months ago and her little brother is a crackhead (yah).  In the actual book her brother is actually a sister, who is about 7 years old (give or take).  

 

A lot of people have been in uproar because of the fact that Elena's hair is brown instead of theblond hair, blue eyes look that's in the book.  Personally I think it's fine, and I think the reason they chose to make her a brunette was so that Elena could be more relate able, most people would think that a blond girl with blue eyes who was  POPULAR would be a shallow airhead.  But those who have read the book know that that's not the case.  The show has been dipped inside a bucket of  horror and it really gives that creepy, eerie feeling that was not present in other vampire movies (ahem, Twilight).  There was too much going on though, Vicki, who is supposed to be in the same grade as Elena, is Matt's sister.  I think the couples were to intertwined.  But really, it's Damon, who is played by Ian Somerhalder who POPS.  He brings the excitement and horror to the plot, while Stefan and Elena bring the romance that barely escapes the cheesy bucket.

I thought all of the characters were fine, Caroline was probably blond because nowadays, blonds are pursued as the popular airhead type of girls.  But if I had to choose one person who I would swap it would be Matt.  I just think he's too...not sweet enough.  Too strong in some ways to.  But all in all I can't wait for the next episode next Thursday.  So lock the doors, close the windows and make sure not to invite any vampires                                               in because they are definitely here to stay.
