Sing me to sleep by Angela Morrison

OH.MY.FREAKING.GOD.

I'll just start with the summary.
THE TRANSFORMATION
Beth has always been “The Beast”—that’s what everyone at school calls her because of her awkward height, facial scars, and thick glasses. Beth’s only friend is geeky, golden-haired Scott. That is, until she’s selected to be her choir’s soprano soloist, and receives the makeover that will change her life forever.

THE LOVE AFFAIR

When Beth’s choir travels to Switzerland, she meets Derek: pale, brooding, totally dreamy. Derek’s untethered passion—for music, and for Beth—leaves her breathless. Because in Derek’s eyes? She’s not The Beast, she’s The Beauty.

THE IMPOSSIBLE CHOICE

When Beth comes home, Scott, her best friend in the world, makes a confession that leaves her completely torn. Should she stand by sweet, steady Scott or follow the dangerous, intense new feelings she has for Derek?

THE HEARTBREAK

The closer Beth gets to Derek, the further away he seems. Then Beth discovers that Derek’s been hiding a dark secret from her …one that could shatter everything

I repeat, OH MY FREAKING GOD.  Wow this book was amazing.  Beth has been the beast all her life and she has accepted it.  Sure she dwells on it but she accepts it and dosen't think life will ever get better for her.  She thinks she's worthless and that nobody will ever see what's really inside of her, an amazing voice, except for Scott (her bff).  Then Derek comes running along.  Handsome, pale, glorious voice, Derek.  (sorry I'm getting all dreamy n stuff...).  Beth and Derek meet while here and her choir are at the choir olympics in Switzerland.

At first when Scott showed interest in Beth I was all for it, hoping that they end up together.  But then Beth runs off to Switzerland and she (as well as me...) is smitten by Derek.  They quickly fall into a summer romance and when she comes back she still has Scott to deal with (I was hoping she would just shove his face away and run back to Derek, but they have history.).  Anyways, the more Beth seems to spend time with Derek the more things start to change and then KAPAWY, Beth finally discovers that secret Derek's been hiding.

So after reading the summary for the first time I guessed what Derek's super top secret was.  But maybe I'm clairvoyant.  While I read the book I kept going CMON BETHY!  IT'S PRETTY OBVIOUS! but oh well, at some point she figured it outCome to think of it I wish there was a sequel but I don't think that should happen since...oh well I'll let you figure that one out.

The book had me going, whenever I got the chance I was reading it so that I could find out what happened.  Ms Morrison's writing had me feeling like I was actually there, watching what was happening.  All my senses were evoked.  And by the end of the book...dare I say it was was crying.  Tears were streaming down my face at 1am.  It was that powerfull (granted I was having mood swings...).

The book was beautiful and I loved it.

Smeyer's new book...

Fans of The Twilight Saga will be enthralled by this riveting story of Bree Tanner, a character first introduced in Eclipse, and the darker side of the newborn vampire world she inhabits. In another irresistible combination of danger, mystery, and romance, Stephenie Meyer tells the devastating story of Bree and the newborn army as they prepare to close in on Bella Swan and the Cullens, following their encounter to its unforgettable conclusion.

I don't know what to think of this.  Is Smeyer just trying to milk the Twilight sega or is this really a good book.  Well, I guess we'll find out June 5th.  Until then Twhihards!

Liar by Justine Larbalestier

That book right there seriously pissed me off.  Just...No.  It was not for me.

Ghost in the machine by Patrick Carman

Strange things are happening in Skeleton Creek... and Ryan and Sarah are trying to find out why. When the first book ended, Ryan and Sarah were trapped in a deadly darkness. In the second book, more of the mystery is revealed?as well as Ryan and Sarah?s fate. To give anything else away would be...criminal.

It sure would because we are hit with a twist in the plot halfway through the book.  The only way I can describe this book is pure awesomeness!  Once again my only problem is the acting in the videos...if you watched the last video in the book you know why (whaddalamehug...).  But there were a couple videos that actually made me jump and be scared of the dark for a couple days.  Those dam pop ups.  Anyways, I`ll get to the review.

Well...when the book is awesome there isn't much of a review.  Because I am straight up telling you the book was a great sequel.  So read it.  Simple as that.  And if you'd like to know a bit more about the book you can check out my review for the first bookhttp://themoodyteenager.blogspot.com/2010/01/skeleton-creek-by-patrick-carman.html

So...the book was great.  Read it.  You definetly won't regret it.

Arson by Estevan Vega

Arson Gable insists that he is a normal kid, even though he knows otherwise.  Arson can create fire and he dosen't know how to turn it off.  He lives with his grandmother, who dosen't have a problem with torturing the kid.  His grandma blames him for killing her only daughter while she was giving birth to Arson.  During the summer a new family moves into the neighberhood and Arson quickly befriends the daughter.  Emery and Arson have their ups and downs with their relationship but it isn't until one crazy night that everything changes for them.

The book kind of just goes on, nothing eventful really happening up until the end when all hell breaks loose and Estevan Vega drops us off at the biggest cliff hanger ever (C'mon man!!!).  The ending is where the book really starts to pick up and you kinda start to think "whats gunna happen next?"  it was really a nail-bitting conclusion.  Arson's character is the kind of guy you feel sorry for, he drools over the popular girl who just uses him for free ice cream, has a craptastic job, his grandmother's moods change as often as the hour and he dosen't really have any friends.  Until Emery, a girl who wears a mask (every darn day, yes I'm serious) and who is his neighbor shows up and rocks his world.  During the whole book you just keep saying to yourself "Man this kid's life sucks."

The book isn't only about Arson, but as well as Emery's parents who are on the verge of divorce.  Her dad is a failed minister and her mom is a nurse at the hospital, who resents her husband.  With the amount of family disfunction the book could be named Family issues!

Estevan Vega is a student who has already published 2 books before Arson, and I doubt it will be his last.  "While it won't be available through Barnes and Noble and Borders until May 4, 2010, you guys can shoot on over to my publisher's site and pick up a copy. Did I mention there's a free short story? And one more thing...the audio book is going to own...that will be free too! "

But anyways, do I think Arson was a good book?  No, I thought it was a very good book.  Do I think there will be a sequel?  There better be.  And do I think Arson deserves the Moody seal of approval?  DUH!  Because Arson is a hot book that dosen't seem to be cooling down soon.

After ever After by by Jordan Sonnenblick

Jeffrey isn’t a little boy with cancer anymore. He’s a teen in remission. Even though the cancer should be far behind him, life still feels fragile. The aftereffects of treatment have left Jeffrey with an inability to be a great student or to walk without limping. His parents still worry about him. His older brother, Steven, who has always been Jeffrey’s main support system and confidant, lost it and took off to Africa to be in a drumming circle and "find himself". Jeffrey has a little soul searching to do, too. He needs to tell Steven how he feels about basically being abandoned. His best friend, Tad, is hatching some kind of secretive, crazy plan, which is driving him bonkers. And there’s a girl who is way out of his league but who thinks he’s cute.

So once I saw that I recieved this book to review I wasn't very estatic.  I just thought "Oh great...it's one of those books".  But boy was I wrong.  Let me just start by saying that Jordan Sonneblick ventured into a subject that is extremely fragile, yet the book was amazing!  Within the first few pages I was already laughing and giggling to myself about the funny jokes that were made in the book.  I still use some of them to this day, especially the banter between Tad and Jeffrey about Jeff's mom.  I was so sucked into the book that by the end I had tears welling in my eyes because it just felt so real (do not make fun of me...and making me cry isn't that easy, trust me).  In all honesty the book was beautiful.  I loved it.  It really is a must read because this book isn't just about a boy dealing with cancer, it's about life.

Does this book deserve the Moody Seal of approval?  Well if you haven't guessed yet it sure does.  If you don't pick up this book and read it, your a D-A.

Posessed by Kate Cann

16 year old Rayne feels trapped in her little apartment she shares with her mom and little brother, her boyfriend, basicaly her lfe.  She escapes to take a job in the country at Morton's keep where she quickly becomes friends wth the leader of the clique St.John.  Rayne begins to avoid her boyfriend and everything that reminds her of home.  Rayne has set up a new life for herself but there is always somehing about it that's...off.  She begins to sense an evil, but she can't tell f t's coming from the manor or her new friends.

This book didn't really have a conflict once Rayne was all set up at Morton's keep, though I kept reading because  enjoyed the writing.  Up until the end you really can't tell what's going to happen because Rayne has been living in so much bliss and there really isn't a conflict until that last batch of 100 pages.

The book was simple, and kind of freaky (I read it during the middle of he night when I couldn't sleep...bad idea).  It had a great plot and overall, I enjoyed it.  Posessed by Kate Cann has been approved!

The lonely hearts club by Elizabeth Eulberg

Penny Lane, named after the Beatles song, is fed up with all the drama boys bring and all the stupid things girls do for them.  After one final straw she decides to form a group at school called "The lonely hearts club" where the objection is to  stop dating boys all together (until highschool is over).  Seriously.  But as more and more people join the club...she has more of an urge to leave it.

Reccommended by Stephenie Meyer, Elizabeth Eulberg has written a book I think every teenage girl who is dating should read.  It really makes you realize how much a boy can dominate a girl's life.  The book was simple and it was kind of the book version of the movie "Down with love".  I really can't say much about the book without spoiling it except that its a great eye opener.

So you should read this book.  This book definetly deserves the Moody seal of approval because once you do you'll realize that being in the "Lonely hearts club" is an honour!

Skeleton Creek by Patrick Carman

Ryan McRay and Sarah Fincher are trying to get to the bottom of the strange things that are happening in Skeleton Creek.  But a wierd accident that causes Ryan to be houseband and forbidden to see Sarah makes things that much harder.  So their investigation is split in two:  Ryan writes down everything that happens in his journal and Sarah records everything she notices with her video camera.  She then e-mails a password to Ryan, where he enters it at Sarahfincher.com to watch the video.

The whole video concept is pretty genius, I must say.  Links and codes are given throughout the book to the reader to watch and Ryan's part is basically a journal.  It makes the book funner to read, and a bit more realistic.  Except for the acting in the videos (once you get to the last video of the book you'll understand...especially that hug) and sometimes, while Sarah talks you just want to yell at the screen and say "SPIT IT OUT WOMAN!  SPIT IT OUT!".  But other than that the book was fantastic.  I also suggest you buy both books at the same time because there is a major cliffhanger at the end of book 1.

So the book is pretty genius and its a fun little mystery than is almost impossible to solve.  You'd think reading about Ryan's day to day life as he just sits there in his room would be completely boring but the author really made it fun to read.

Does this book have the Moody seal of approval?  Heck yah, because Skeleton Creek's mystery is one you should definetly solve.

First post of 2010.

So I just wanted to let anyone who reads this blog and was wondering why I haven't updated in a while that no, I have not died.
It's just school.

I'vebeen overwhelmed with school work and BOOM exams are starting in 2 days, so I'm kinda stressed.  Anyways, just a quick update (and a way for me to avoid my studying).  Once exams are over I'll be updating the blog and posting all the reviews down there.  I've practically read every book in the Coming Soon section so once I have the time my updates will come like vomit!  :D
