Hush Hush by Becca FitzPatrick

Nora Grey isn't the average high school student.  Although she has legs as long as a bar stool and curls with enough volume to create a moon bounce boys at her school aren't really part of the plan.  Nora spends most of her time studying and concentrating on school.  She's just a girl not looking for any trouble, but trouble finds her in the form of a mysterious youg guy, named Patch.  Patch is a combination of Edward Cullen, Dimitri Belikov, Jace Wayland and Sam (...Shiver).  It's hard to talk about all these fictional heartthrobs without thinking of Patch, real

So.................................................(Sorry, I was thinking about Patch.)
Becca FitzPatrick created a dark novel with characters that actally serve a purpose.  Random characters weren't just thrown at the reader but I do have to admit that Vee, Nora's best friend really got on my nerves.  But she still served a purpose.  The 400+ pages were dipped in almost every emotion which is a good thing since not many author can actually do that.  The book was very fast paced and the ending was pretty shocking for me since I did not see that one coming.  If I had to criticize something it would be the lack of Patch's history.  I would have wanted to know more about Fallen Angels and such but I think that they were introduced a bit too late in the sory.  Anyways, the book was great!  I do feel that this book will be getting a lot of buzz!  Especially because of the amazingly beautiful cover!  Crescendo, the sequel will be released fall 2010

So does Hush Hush deserve the moody seal of approval?  Of course, because Hsh Hush shouldn't be kept a secret.

Lips touch 3 times by Laini Taylor

Everyone dreams of getting the kiss of a lifetime - but what if that kiss carried some unexpected consequences? A girl who?s always been in the shadows finds herself pursued by the unbelievably attractive new boy at school, who may or may not be the death of her. Another girl grows up mute because of a curse placed on her by a vindictive spirit, and later must decide whether to utter her first words to the boy she loves and risk killing everyone who hears her if the curse is real. And a third girl discovers that the real reason for her transient life with her mother has to do with belonging literally belonging to another world entirely, full of dreaded creatures who can transform into animals, and whose queen keeps little girls as personal pets until they grow to childbearing age. From a writer of unparalleled imagination and emotional insight, three stories about the deliciousness of wanting and waiting for that moment when lips touch.

The first story, Goblin fruit is about Kizzy who dosen`t really fit in.  Her family is odd, her friends are odd, her life is odd!  But one day a new boy from school has a sudden interest in our Kizzy and he causes her to do things she would never dream of doing, like skipping school.  Although her family had warned her about the supernatural, Kizzy still dosen`t understand the consequences that come with this cute, new guy.

"Spicy Little Curses Such as These" begins in Hell with the meeting between a demon and an ambassador to Hell, a woman known as "the old bitch." The demon despises children, and it is Ambassador Estella's job to save as many of the children that the demon kills as she can. In return for their lives, the ambassador must sacrifice people, murderers or other criminals. On this particular day, the demon offers her all ten of the children he just had killed in an earthquake for free. As usual, "free" is too good to be true and comes with a price: the young ones will be saved if the ambassador will curse a baby girl with the most beautiful voice ever heard. The catch? Anyone who hears her utter a sound will drop dead. Estella is horrified but feels she has no choice but to allow the baby to be cursed since it will save ten innocent lives. So she places the curse on the newborn as required but adds an addendum of her own - that the child will not make a sound until she is old enough to understand what she does.

The third and final story, Hatchling.  It is about the lives of Mab and her daughter Esme.  When she was younger, Mab had been abducted by Druj and was the impregnated with Esme.  Mihai, who is a Druj had helped Mab escape so that she could live a normal life with her daughter but the day Esme turns 14 all sorts of creatures come to hunt her.

At first, I really liked this story.  It was fast paced and it got to the point, it was really okay.  But the ending was just that, an ending.  But this ending didn`t really contain any conclusion, just an ending.  Euh..an open ending wasn't really what I was hoping for, since anything could have happened. (duh).  Overall I'd give this story a 2.5/5

The next sory, Spicy little curses, such as these was my favorite story, since it was the most complete of the 3 and had a better conflict.  And oh man, the drawings done by Jim di Bartolo, Taylor's husband were magnificently beautiful.  Each drawing had a way of telling the story.  So to summ it p, the second story was darker and better and simply great!  I'd give it a 4.5/5

I found the last sory, Hatchling to be kind of dull and confusing at first but as you continue to read more of Mab's past becomes knowne and the confsion lead to interest and the dullness leads to  excitement.  The sotry was kind of dark since some very disturbing things have happened to Mab in her childhood.

So what did I think of the book?  I thought it was okay but the book is very unique and different so that kind of makes up fot it.  Does it have the moody seal of aproval?  Yes, yes it does.

Interview with Alyson Noel

Alyson Noel is a well known athor of many teen hits, including The Immortals series.  And Ms Noel took the time to answer my questions!

Were you expecting this kind of response when you were writing Evermore?  What were you expecting?

To be honest, I wasn’t really expecting anything. I was just writing the story I felt compelled to write, and crossing my fingers as I sent it off to my publisher—my usual routine!

If you could change anything in the story what would it be and why?

I wouldn’t change anything since I wrote the story I wanted to tell. Though if I could go back and start over I’d take much better, more detailed notes. I’ve had to go back and reread a few times just to catch up on all the little continuity details for the successive books.

You are the author of various teen novels, which one was your favorite to write?  And of course why?

They all resulted in different experiences, but if I had to choose, I’d say SAVING ZOË because it was sort of like a delirious fever dream where I wrote for hours on end, only stopping when my hands were all gnarled and cramped. For whatever reason, that story just came pouring out of me and I finished it in two weeks! Of course I then spent the next few months revising it . . . Also, the books in THE IMMORTALS series have been really fun, as I love writing about Summerland and spending time in that world.

What inspired you to write Evermore?

Grief. A few years ago I lost three people I loved in five months, and shortly after that I nearly lost my husband to leukemia (he’s in full remission now!). Experiencing that sort of intense grief and fear got me thinking a lot about life and death, mortality and immortality, the bonds that tie us even after a loved one is gone, and how our youth loving culture sort of seeks physical immortality by trying to remain youthful looking for as long as we can—and yet, what would happen if we really could achieve it? What would it mean for us, our loved ones, society in general?  And since I’ve been interested in all things paranormal since I was a kid, Ever and Damen’s story seemed like the perfect vehicle to explore all of those themes.

You said that you were going to be writing a book about Ever's sister, Riley.  What would the plot be about?

Riley is getting her own series set to debut in Fall 2010 and while I haven’t started it yet (though I’m about to!) it’s going to be about her life in the afterlife and I’m really looking forward to writing it!

Are any of you books going to be turned into a movie?

The dramatic rights for THE IMMORTALS series have been optioned by Spring Creek Productions, so we’ll see . . . and I’ve had some interest on some of my other titles, but since I’m a jinx-fearing person that’s all I’m going to say about that!

If there was something you could tell your past self what would it be?

Oh, so many things! But mostly that a change in attitude can change your whole life, that the biggest opportunity for learning and growth comes from the most difficult times, and that focus, determination, and positivity really do pay off!

The following questions are just some random questions, you don't really have to answer them :D

If you could fly to a planet which one would it be and why?

The Moon. I’ve been a moon watcher since I was a little kid!

If you could do something over what would it be and why?

I don’t like to look back with regret, I try to learn from my mistakes and move on, though I would love to revisit the moment I met my husband so I could enjoy that magical moment when our eyes first met all over again! Corny, I know!

Name something you are deathly afraid of.

That we’ll continue on this path of war, destruction, prejudice, violence, and hate and continue to make the same mistakes.

Something you are excited for.

The release of SHADOWLAND on 11.17.09!

In the book, Ever can see auras.  What would yours be....and why?

I’m aiming for white—perfect balance! But until then, I’ll settle for blue, violet, indigo, or pink!

And finally, any YA books you recommend?

I loved Lauren Baratz-Logsted’s CRAZY/BEAUTIFUL, and just got an early read of Tera Lynn Child’s FORGIVE MY FINS and loved it!

Shadowland is now available!  If you haven't read this series yet, I highly recommend you do!

Sleepless by Thomas Fahy

SOMEONE ELSE WILL
DIE SOON
she tells herself.
SOMEONE ELSE WILL DIE
AND I WILL BE RESPONSIBLE.
A few days after the first time you
walk in your sleep, you kill someone.
That's how the end begins.

Emma Montgomery has been having gruesome nightmares. Even worse, when she wakes up, she isn't where she was when she fell asleep. And she's not the only one. One by one the students of Saint Opportuna High start having nightmares, and sleepwalking. And the next morning one of their classmates turns up dead.
Something is making them kill in their sleep. Emma and her friends need to band together, to keep themselves awake until they can figure out what's behind the murders--before anyone else dies.

I had to say, I was very excited to recieve this book to review since I love horror movies, so naturally I`d love horror books and the cover is just A-M-A-Z-I-N-G.  But the problem with this novel was that it was somewhat...boring.  In the end it seemed like the whole summary had falsely advertised the book it really wasn`t what I excpected.  The book wasn`t completely a disappointment, it was a nice read but the summary didn`t represent what the book really had to offer.  The book was more about insomnia and voodoo than killing and whatnot.  I do admit that Mr. Fahy`s writing skills were pretty great but the character developpement seemed very lacking.

All in all, the book was okay but it dosen`t deserve the moody teenager seal of aproval, since it was only okay.  It just didn`t make the cut.

Malice by Chris Wooding

Everyone’s heard of Malice, but hardly anyone has actually seen it: a comic about a horrifying world of tricks and traps, overseen by the sinister master of ceremonies, Tall Jake. The story goes that the kids who go through Tall Jake’s deadly trials are real kids, who’ve disappeared from the real world and turned up in the comic. But it’s just an urban legend, right?

Teenagers are becoming obsessed with a comic book named Malice.  Malice is rare to atually be seen but the rumour is spreading about the horrible tricks and traps that are being controled by the sinister, Tall Jake.  The kids in the comic books are real kids who have disappeared from the real world, but have somehow ended up in Malice.

Everyone thinks it's just an urban legend, including Seth and Kady.  But once their friend, Luke goes missing and he mysteriously end up in the cominc Seth takes it upon himself to go to Malice and he ends up going through the most horrifying experience he has ever experienced.  A bonus, the cover has a metal face plate and it's definetly an attention grabber.

So Malice is part comic, but mostly novel.  The book was so hard to put down and it was so different from anything I've ever read in my life.  The book was thrilling and kept me up at night.  I think that the best part of the book was Tall Jake.  Chris Wooding made Tall Jake so believable that I was scared of him!  I'm still too scared to say the chant "Tall Jake come take me away".  This was a great book and I recommend it to anyone who is searching for an adventure novel.

Of course this book has the Moody seal of approval because Malice is real and you can't escape.

The next book, Havoc comes out in 2010, the books are supposed to be a duology but Chris Wooding says that there may be more.  Heres his site http://www.chriswooding.com

By the time you read this I'll be dead by Julie Anne Peters

From the web: Daelyn Rice is broken beyond repair, and after a string of botched suicide attempts, she's determined to get her death right. She starts visiting a website for "completers"- www.through-the-light .com. While she's on the site, Daelyn blogs about her life, uncovering a history of bullying that goes back to kindergarten. When she's not on the Web, Daelyn's at her private school, where she's known as the freak who doesn't talk.
Then, a boy named Santana begins to sit with her after school while she's waiting to for her parents to pick her up. Even though she's made it clear that she wants to be left alone, Santana won't give up. And it's too late for Daelyn to be letting people into her life. Isn't it?National Book Award finalist Julie Anne Peters shines a light on how bullying can push young people to the very edge.

For starters, this isn't the average teen fiction novel.  Julie Anne Peters covers some very serious issues and in the progress writes an amazing novel.  Daelyn is not the typical teen, she has been through so much in her life and finnally decides she dosen't want to go on, after a string of suicide attempts.  But then while she waits for her parents to pick her up from school a boy named Santana starts sitting beside her even though she's made it clear that she would rather be left alone.  This happens after Daelyn has made her decision and she dosen't want to let people into her life since it's so close to ending but Santana still manages a way to creep into her life.  Daelyn starts visiting a website named www.through-the-light .com.  (which does not exist, I checked).  While on the site she begins to blog about the reasons why she has made the choice to commit suicide.  The reasons are mostly varied types of bullying that go all the way back to kindergarten.

Once I flipped open the first page and started reading about Daelyn's horrible experiences, I never stopped until the last page.  I think Daelyn's is someone who lives inside each and every one of us, though some of us don't let her control us that much.  I'd also like to say that while I read the book I agreed with what Daelyn was thinking the whole time including killing herself.  Why should she have to endure such a horrible life?  But as the plot thickened and Santana wasn't a small character anymore I found myself hoping that she wouldn't commit sucide.  I'm not going to overanalyze the book and say the chracter developpement was amazing (which it was) and so on because that wouldn't be th point of it.

The story really captivates what so many off us are going through and Daelyn is just an example.  The way Daelyn's kept making jokes (in her thoughts) about her everyday battles even though she was planning to commit sucide made her a realistic character.  It isn't really easy to review such a serious book, so I'll leave you with this: I'm just going to say that this was an amazing book and I might even have to consider it one of my favorites.  It's really something I think each and every one of us should read.  And of course this book deserves the Moody seal of approval.

The book wont be released until 2010 but here is Julie Anne Peter's wesbite for more information:  http://www.julieannepeters.com/

The vampire is just not that into you by Vlad Mezrich

Are you worried that you might not be your vamp's (blood) type?  Well Vlad Mezrich is the ultimate Vampire bachelor.  He takes you through the do's and don't of dating a vampire while giving you tips on how to please his....appetite.  With fun diagrams and laugh-out-loud quizzes after reading this page turner you'll be a magnet to vampires and it WON'T be because of your blood!

If your a Twilight fan or even just a pop culture vampire book fanatic, this book is for you!  It's a funny read and Vlad really does cover everything there is.  If you did in fact read Twilight (which you probably did...) then you'll notice many little inside jokes and Vlad even takes a couple jabs to the reader!

This book really did crack me up and I learned so much.  In this book you can decode your vamp's mood and tell why he isn't really drinking that much of your blood.  You can even understand the difference between an emo kid and an actual vampire.  What a time saver!  Twilight mocker or Twilight over this book is for everybody, the book features activities, testimonials, top 10 lists and charts, as well as quizzes.

Here is a little something you can excpet to read:
Dear Vlad,
If I shove garlic in a vampire's face and nothing happens, is he still a vampire? Or is the garlic thing all a myth? - Samus

Dear Samus,
Excellent question! The undead try to avoid garlic as it overpowers the scent of human blood, but it’s perfectly harmless. However, the “garlic test” is the most accurate way to determine whether or not the vampire is into you.

To gauge his interest, “accidentally” wave a clove of garlic in front of your vampire and then apologize for your “mishap.” If he’s into you, he’ll respond with something along the lines of: “Never fear, my lovely mortal darling. I’m sure it was an accident. I know humans have difficulty controlling those flimsy mass of ligaments you call arms. Oh, how I worship your spastic wrist movements, my adorably fragile love.”

On the other hand, if he screams “NOOOOooo!!! It’s poison. We die instantly. Um, I mean, we die soon . . . Er . . . I can never see you again. Vampire rule. No, I swear. Google it . . . see ya!” then, chances are, the vampire is just not that into you.

What more can I say about this book, except that it's simply great.  I really recommend reading it when your traveling so that you can snagg yourself a nice vamp!  Of course this book has the moody seal of approval!

Rules of attraction- the sequel to Perfect chemistry

Rules Of Attraction by Simone Elkeles
Coming to a book store near you April 27th 2010

THE COVER HAS BEEN RELEASED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When Carlos Fuentes returns to America after living in Mexico for a year, he doesn’t want any part of the life his older brother, Alex, has laid out for him at a high school in Colorado.

Carlos likes living his life on the edge and wants to carve his own path—just like Alex did. Then he meets Kiara Westford. She doesn’t talk much and is completely intimidated by Carlos’ wild ways. As they get to know one another, Carlos assumes Kiara thinks she’s too good for him, and refuses to admit that she might be getting to him. But he soon realizes that being himself is exactly what Kiara needs right now.

With new characters to fall in love with and the same hot romance found in Perfect Chemistry, Simone Elkeles has crafted another sure-fire hit for teens.

How to steal a car by Pete Hautman

Kalleigh is just a teenager who has a bit more to deal with then regular teens.  Her family is the super cookie cutter family on the outside, but on the inside everthing is in shambles.  With a boyfriend, who isn't that interesting and a best friend, who isn't that much of a great friend Kalleigh ends up stealing a car.  At first, it's no big deal.  Just a little parade around the neighberhood.  But after a couple incidents, the thrill it gives Kalleigh is hard to give up and she ends up stealing another, then another.  And then another.

Kalleigh is a girl, I think all teenagers can relate to.  She dosen't really depend on her family or friends, just herself.  And her character is actually believably, she deals with many teenager issues.  And though what Kalleigh does sometimes seems wierd you can actually understand why she does it, and not call her an idiot for doing it.  Kalleigh is a loveable character and although this book was a short read it was really fast paced and you always wanted to keep reading, wondering if Kalleigh would finnally be busted.

Of course I have to give this book the Moody stamp of approoval.  Why?  Because it is a simple fresh, read that any teenager can relate to.  Who knew learing how to steal a car could be that simple?

Going too far by Jennifer Echols.

Meg McPhereson is a girl who just wants to escape school, her parents, her home-town.  Her life!  But one crazy night that involves her, a dare and a forbidden railroad track changes everything.  She is arrested and as punishment must endure one whole week of partnering with a cop during his night shift, during spring break.  But that one week changes almost everything about her as she falls in love with John After, the cop that put her in her situation.

Meg's character is the basic rebellious teenager, but slightly different.  Her past has changed her outlook in her life and future.  And John is the goody two shoes, who has his laces untied.  Meg and John begin to bond and their two extreme personnalitites (badass and saint) merge as they fall in love.  Though the plot seems like a total cliche the character development makes up for it.  Meg jus isn't a MOODY TEEN (hihi) she has reasons and John digs up each of those reasons as they fall in love and Meg pushes every single one of his buttons.  But the problem in their romance is that once high school is over Meg is ready to spread her wings and fly away to college land but John's plans consist of many dougnuts, and staying where he is.

The book was really exciting to read, mostly because of A) Meg's personnality and B) John's mystery.  Meg's point of view is really fun to read.  I think a little version of Meg lives inside each and every one of us teenage girls, just waiting to escape.  So anyways, enough of my cheesy metaphors and random explanations.  I'll lay it down simply, this was a very pleasant good book.  And I would recoomend this book to any of you searching a nice, light read.  So of course, this book has the moody seal of approovement!  Because this book was a light, fun, smart, sexy romance!

Shiver by Maggie stiefvater

Courtesy of Scholastic I had the opportunity to read Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater.

Summary:For years, Grace has watched the wolves in the woods behind her house. One yellow-eyed wolf - her wolf - is a haunting presence she can?t seem to live without. Meanwhile, Sam has lived two lives: In winter, the frozen woods, the protection of the pack, and the silent company of a fearless girl. In summer, a few precious months of being human -- until the cold makes him shift back again. Now, Grace meets a yellow-eyed boy whose familiarity takes her breath away. It?s her wolf. It has to be. But as winter nears and the temperature drops, Sam must fight to stay human or risk losing himself, and Grace, forever.

In the beginning of the book we find out that Grace has been attacked by wolves when she was younger, but had survived.  She had been saved by the yellow-eyed wolf.  Enter Sam, the sad romeo in our intricate love story.  Sam turns into a wolf during the cold months, then goes back to a human in the summer.  But eventually, he won't go back to being a human, and the wold inside of him will take over.  Finally Sam and Grace meet in September while he is human, she 17 and him 18.  Once they meet the story develops and the plot takes off, Sam and Grace fall completely in love with each other and life couldn't seem to be better.  But there is a gray cloud running their perfect sky.  Winter is just around the corner and this could be Sam's last year as a human.  But Sam and Grace have just met and cannot be separated.  It's just not fair!  They've got a taste of the potential they have together and cannot, will not be separated!  A few months to cover the 6 years they had been waiting for each others company isn't going to do them any justice.

From start to finish this book had me going, it was a real love story.  Grace and Sam were such real characters and their relationship was actually believable.  I really can't describe much of it but I can say that the Sam and Grace were only living in the now, not the past, nor the future. They were just taking it day by day.  Throughout the whole book the point of view switches from Sam to Grace and it really helps understand their relationship.  Though at the end of the book there is a little whole that isn't filled by the conclusion as to how Sam had survived and Grace never turned into a wolf.  I would definitely encourage a second book though, it would be at the top of my list!  The detail was so explained in this book you felt like you were there, living it.  And a bonus, Sam is almost a realistic perfect guy.  Gentleman, sweet, caring you name it!  Thankfully, there wasn't a cliff hanger in this book but I crave the next book Linger which will be coming out in 2010.  You find out the ending but want more, Shiver was not enough to satisfy me, I need the next book.  I must know what happens to Sam and Grace after Shiver!  MUST!

Shiver is a love story that is beautifully described.  You'll Shiver with delight!
This book has the moody teenager stamp of approval!

Simone Elkeles' Perfect chemistry

From what I alredy knew about this book I was excpecting it to be super cheesy.  But it escaped, uncheesed.  Alex Fuentes is the average gang guy from all the movies.  He is in an unfortunate situation, is smart, good looking and looks out for his family blah blah blah.  And Brittany is the cheerleading blonde.  She has the perfect life on the outside but on the inside she is a meltdown waiting to happen (Hmm...where have I seen that before?) but her parents' rocky relationship isn't the only missplaced hair on her perfect coiffure.  She also has a mentally disabled sister, Shelly.  So at least you know there is some character depth.  And a bonus, every chapter has a different point of view, it goes back and forth from Brittany to Alex.

Once these two cross pathes their lives change forever.  Alex gets Brittany to stand up to her parents and Britany, gets Alex to reevaluate his situation in the gang.  Alex is a smart guy who could really do a lot with his life but he is tied down to where he is by his gang.  But everything in the book changes once they fall in love.  Their love is actually kind of sincere, they have...passion!  And you can't help but love Alex.  Anyways, this book isn't too bad.  I liked it.  It was a cute romance with a little twist at the end and a lot of comedic relief.  The second book comes out next year if I am not mistaken.  Although the plot was cliche, the writing was not.  Go on and read the book, it has a moody seal of approovement!

*Sigh, although the book was not cheesy, the trailer is!  Behold!  (by the way the book is not that...cheesy/cliche.  Trust me)

A blogger with some insight

I fell accross this blog while browsing on some websites and she posted something that made me think.  For one her mind is not clouded by nonesense like "Rpatz this and Rpatz that!  OMFG I LOOOVE HIM".  The way she critiques Twilight, the book is insightful.  Well, you can judge for yourselves:

What do you think?

Catching Fire! The sequel to the Hunger games.

Catching fire is the sequel to Suzanne Collin's amazing book the Hunger games.  When I first reviewed the Hunger games I gushed about how amazing it was.  Courtesy of Scholastic I got to review Cathcing fire.  And let me tell you, I was not disapponted!

Normally, the sequel to a good book results in a bad sequel but that would be the contrary in this story!  Katniss has survived the Huner Games and has managed to keep Peeta alive at the same time.  But the Capitol is not happy with that.  They see "the desperate act of star-crossed lovers" as an act of defiance and they want justice.  On top of all that it seems like an uprising is starting, triggered by Katniss.  Oh and let's not forget all the boy drama!  Peeta has found out Katniss and Haymitch's little arrangement while they were in the Hunger games and has broken his heart and she must face Gale.  What has Katniss gotten herself into?

But the show must go on and everyone must believe that Katniss and Peeta are as in love as always were, even more.  And president Snow is counting on that, or else...

Do I even have to tell you how great this book was?  It has everything I look for in a book drama, action, romance and even some comedic relief.  Oh man!  I have to say I was kind of  scared that this book wouldn't  be able to measure up to the first one but boy was I wrong.  Even though the setting has changed the characters are still the same, which invites a feeling of relief to engulfe you (if you get that).  The character developpement in the book has pregreessed, in the Hunger Games we didn't get to spend much time with characters like Gale, but the second book comes back with a vengeance.  You can't help but love all the guys in the story, even Haymitch.
I am unconditionnally and irrevocably in love with...This book ;D

So if you haven't read book one, get to it!  It is time to start Catching fire!

Kiss of life a generation dead novel by Daniel Waters

From the publisher:
The phenomenon that''s been sweeping the country seems to be here to stay. Not only are the teenagers who have come back from their graves still here, but newlydeads are being unearthed all the time. While scientists look for answers and politicians take their stands, the undead population of Oakville have banded together in a group they''re calling the Sons of Romero, hoping to find solidarity in segregation. Phoebe Kendall may be alive, butshe feels just as lost and alone as her dead friends.Just when she reconciled herself to having feelings for a zombie — her Homecoming date Tommy Williams — her friend Adam is murdered taking a bullet that was meant for her . Things get even more confusing when Adam comes back from the grave. Now she has romantic interest intwo dead boys; one who saved her life, and one she can''t seem to live without.

So courtesy of Daniel Waters and publicist I was able to review Kiss of like and I have to say I liked it.  A lot.  To begin, the plot is unique, or at least it seems like it is since this is a break from vampires.  Instead we get to socialize with zombies!  So basically in the book, we join Phoebe Kendall who had to suffer the loss of human, Adam, who took a bullet for her that was either meant for her or Tommy Williams.  Which caused Adam to become undead (are you following?).  And now, she has to cope with everything that has occurred since, Pete (the guy who "killed" Adam) getting off easy at the trial.  Adam's rehabilitation and Tommy ( so much to be said with that one name) Pheobe's sort of boyfriend.

The character development was very good in this book, which is hard to say for other books.  You could really feel for Phoebe, who had to choose between Adam and Tommy (I can't even choose!).  The plot was very easy to follow but I do have to say the only problem in this book was just that in the mid-section the pace of the story slowed down and not much happened causing it to be a bit (just a bit!) boring.  There was just a bit to much dialogue which didn't cause much to happen.  Although, towards the end, the book started to pick up (which diappointed me because that meant I'd have to wait for the next book).  There was a lot of foreshadowing which lead me to my suspicions.  But under all the teen angst and drama the story actually has a pretty deep meaning, which I'll let you figure out for yourself once you read it.  You better read this book.  It's light, and I finished it yesterday and I'm STILL thinking about it.  That is the sign of a good book my friend!

The dead bring all the excitement to this story.  Being dead doesn't mean your not alive in this book!
Go on and read this book!  I promise you it won't bore you to death!

The Vampire diares show

INHALE!  EXHALE!  INHALE!  EXHALE...

Okay, guys in case you missed it (you probably didn't) The Vampire Diaries show premiered on Thursday September 10th and  my watch  says that was yesterday.  I think it was actually really good and Hollywood didn't really screw up the story that's based on the book, like some movies (...Twilight...) or TV shows in this case.  So the opening to the show is basically a couple being attacked by a mysterious figure which we later find out is Damon (rawr).  So then  we meet Elena, played by Canadian (WOOT) actress Nina Dobrev.  Her parents died four months ago and her little brother is a crackhead (yah).  In the actual book her brother is actually a sister, who is about 7 years old (give or take).

A lot of people have been in uproar because of the fact that Elena's hair is brown instead of theblond hair, blue eyes look that's in the book.  Personally I think it's fine, and I think the reason they chose to make her a brunette was so that Elena could be more relate able, most people would think that a blond girl with blue eyes who was  POPULAR would be a shallow airhead.  But those who have read the book know that that's not the case.  The show has been dipped inside a bucket of  horror and it really gives that creepy, eerie feeling that was not present in other vampire movies (ahem, Twilight).  There was too much going on though, Vicki, who is supposed to be in the same grade as Elena, is Matt's sister.  I think the couples were to intertwined.  But really, it's Damon, who is played by Ian Somerhalder who POPS.  He brings the excitement and horror to the plot, while Stefan and Elena bring the romance that barely escapes the cheesy bucket.

I thought all of the characters were fine, Caroline was probably blond because nowadays, blonds are pursued as the popular airhead type of girls.  But if I had to choose one person who I would swap it would be Matt.  I just think he's too...not sweet enough.  Too strong in some ways to.  But all in all I can't wait for the next episode next Thursday.  So lock the doors, close the windows and make sure not to invite any vampires                                               in because they are definitely here to stay.

Not to fear! The mortal instruments are here!

A lot of people have been a little sad about the fact the Mortal Instruments trilogy has ended. Therefore you won't hear about Alec, Isabella, Simon, Clary or even Jace! (It's okay put the tissue away!). But it seems like Ms.Clare is not done with her writing! In an e-mail she revealed that she might like to do a spin off with her characters.

MD: Hello Ms. Clare!
Of course I read the Mortal Instruments series (I very much enjoyed it) and I am of course saddened to know the series has ended but I would like to know, in your imagination what would happen later on in the lives of Clary and Jace? Or Isbella, Simon and Alec and Magnus?
Thanks!

CC: think, since I have not totally ruled out ever writing about any of these characters again in future, that it's better if my speculations about their possible futures stays private for now. Cassie

Fan girl screams can begin now :D

To Swoon or not to Swoon? That is the question!

I finished Swoon a little while ago I am a bit flustered by the whole book. I thought Nina did a fairly good job on the writing but it seemed a bit lacking. Parts of the book were hard to understand and it was hard to get attached to the characters because the story made most of them seem quite shallow. I also couldn't really get attached to the protagonist Dice. There wasn't much we actually got to find out about her, all I knew was that her cousin is Pen, she likes to sing, she has (possibly) black hair and she moved from New York. Relating to the characters was pretty hard I guess.

Personally it also seemed as if the author, Nina Malkin at times, became lazy with her writing and decided to skip some passages. I definitely thought the book's plot had so much potential to be great but I was left unsatisfied at the end. What did you guys think of the book and its ending? My favorite part in the book was when Sin was with Marsh's father, fighting. And he said something like ''Mofo bit me'' something close to that though. I laughed for a little while during that part :)

But that was pretty much it. I also didn't understand how Pen could also be in love with Sin. If she did, wouldn't she hold a grudge or at least fight for Sin? Not everything added up. I need more explanations! To Swoon or not to Swoon? That is the question, but I'm going to have to say Not to Swoon. The ending just...ended...without anything really big happening. And I also think that there should be an epilogue. And I actually started to hate Sin after I found out he ''Fornicated'' with Pen and then in the scene where Pen's little brothers act like sheriffs and he spanks Dice...
But on the upside, I liked the lyrics to the song :D
Roll the dice (clever)

So my fellow bloggers, the answer to this question which is vital to our life, a necessity that we cannot live without a- okay I'll just say Pass. Not to swoon. The plot was very intriguing but didn't do much for me in the end :I

The blog is taking air!

My blog is taking off, after the summer vacation actually finished I actually started updating and working on the layout. Pretty soon, I hope to have a logo to go with that banner up there *points up*
And now I'm actually feeling pretty confident about that and I really think this going to work. Keep reading the moody teenager :D thanks (that's pretty much everything I wanted to say).

Is this book worth your buck: House of night

Ever since the popular Vampire phase hit teens (some could say Twilight is to blame) vampire novels have been grossing in huge amounts of revenue. But a book that is new to some has been gaining a lot of attention from teens. The House of night.

From the publisher: The House of Night series is set in a world very much like our own, except in 16-year-old Zoey Redbird''s world, vampyres have always existed. In this first book in the series, Zoey enters the House of Night, a school where, after having undergone the Change, she will train to become an adult vampire--that is, if she makes it through the Change. Not all of those who are chosen do.It''s tough to begin a new life, away from her parents and friends, and on top of that, Zoey finds she is no average fledgling. She has been Marked as special by the vampyre Goddess, Nyx.But she is not the only fledgling at the House of Night with special powers. When she discovers that the leader of the Dark Daughters, the school''s most elite club, is misusing her Goddess-given gifts, Zoey must look deep within herself for the courage to embrace her destiny--with a little help from her new vampyre friends.

So there is the summary. There are presently a bunch of little red lines indicating Vampire has been spelled wrong, yet that's the thing that's different from the book. But unfortunately, that's the only unique thing about the book. Of course the cover looks pretty cool, but you don't buy a box of chocolates for the wrapper! The plot is very intriguing and has many new things yet the story seems to go on and on and on without anything happening! But eventually, when something does happen it's way to cliché. While reading this book you could possibly feel as if your watching a brain melting teenager drama (I am a teenager, and I am saying this. There must be a problem). Also, the characters are very one dimensional and not very developed. And it pains me to say...that it seems like the authors were trying to hard to make the ending worth while, making the writing very...poor :( I actually bought the books but as I read the latest one, Hunted. I realized that it's not that great of a book. So I decided to go read some Stephen King :D

So my friends, is this book worth your book. No way Jose! But I do recommend checking it out of your local library. Checking if you like the first couple of books, then maybe thinking about making the purchase.
Thanks for reading the moody teenager blog. And stay tuned for the next Is this book worth your buck post!

The demon's lexicon

The demon's lexicon is a fantasy book created by Sarah Rees Brennan. It puts you into a world where two brothers, Nick and Alan Ryves, try to escape magic. A term used loosely in this story. Nick and Alan are always on the move with their crazy mother who is not much of a parent. Since their father was murdered at a young age they must fend for themselves. But danger is always their shadow, evil magicians are hunting the Ryves family for a charm that keeps the mother alive. But things start falling apart for the brothers when they encounter a brother and sister searching for help. The brother, Jaimie, was marked by a demon which is a sign of death that is almost impossible to erase. Then things get worse when Alan also gets marked by a demon. The only way Nick can save his bother is to kill one of the magicians that they have been hiding from for so long. Soon after their, quest to save one another begins Nick finds that Alan has not been 100% truthful to his brother. Lie after lie Nick uncovers more about his past and more about who he really is. Or rather, what he really is.

The demon's lexicon was surely a page turner for me. Once again Simon pulse has brought out a teenage fantasy that is worth the read. Of course there were moments when the book seemed to drone on but I find that the dark humor that Nick possesses was a great way to laugh. He was honestly my favorite character, the other ones seemed to happy and ignorant to appreciate, I could really relate to him. But not everyone would like this book, it would take a certain type of person, I find. The near-end of the book was a heart pounding a shock, there is a twist that changes you're whole view of the book. But I do think that the end of the book was a bit lacking. I always want to know what happens after all is said and done. A second one should definetley be made! The ketchup has done you good Ms.Brennan! (reference to the dedication)

The Hunger games by Suzanne Collins

Review for : The Hunger games by Suzanne Collins

I recently read the Hunger games by Suzanne Collins and it was amazing. The plot was original and very interesting. I was more than satisfied when I finished reading it. To begin, the book is about the ruins of a place that was previously known as North America where lied the nation of Panem. Panem is surrounded by twelve districts where each one contributes it’s own service. And to make sure the districts are disciplined the Capitol forces them to participate in the annual Hunger games, a fight to the death between one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and sixteen from each district.

"As close to a perfect adventure novel as I've ever read"

Rick Riordan, author of The Percy Jackson series and The 39 Clues: The Maze of Bones

If chosen you must fight to the death and if you win, you bring fame, riches and honor to you’re district। When sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen’s sister Primerose is chosen to compete she cannot bear it and volunteers in her place. Katniss regards The hunger games as a death sentence but she isn’t new to fighting for her survival. When her father died she took it upon herself to care for her mother and little sister. But will the things she has learned hunting and trading be enough to win The hunger games?
"Enthralling, imaginative and creepy"

Los Angeles Times

I found The hunger games to be a nail biting, addicting and an enthralling experience. It was simple blunt but full of mystery and action. I would recommend this book to anybody, boy or girl even those who are older. It’s a great read and I cannot wait for Catching fire which comes out in September.
